Banana on FIRE !!

Camping is one of the best summer past times! I am fortunate enough to have family that own a lot in a private RV “resort”. (I question whether you can really call an RV park a resort, however, for camping it is pretty high class!) I had the pleasure of teaching my girlfriend’s three young boys all about my FAVOURITE camping treat: banana on FIRE.

It is quite simple. All you need is a banana and your favourite chocolate bar. When it comes to choosing your banana, it is really choice of personal preference, though, the softer the banana, the less likely it will keep it shape once heated. I like my banana slightly green, so that it is still somewhat firm after the cooking process. The same goes for the chocolate bar. If you are feeling adventurist, go with a chocolate bar with hazelnuts or a Skor bar! Yummy….

The cooking is simple! Cut yourself a piece of tin foil, peel the banana and slice it into two. Centre the banana slices in the foil and line the chocolate down the centre of the banana. Roll up your chocolate banana and throw it on the FIRE! I like to let my banana sit in the flame for a bit, to ensure that all of the chocolate is melted. A little burnt chocolate is always good too for extra flavour.

So, the next time you have a camp fire, make sure to set your banana on FIRE!

She chooses to live a more low-carb type of lifestyle and so finding and experimenting with foods that have a lower carbohydrate content is what really gets her excited. With that said though, she does take advantage of what she likes to call, “cheat days”, where she eats whatever carb-filled food she likes. (Everyone needs cheat days…)
