S’more Season

Over here on the West Coast we’ve finally had a few consecutive weeks of Summer.  This means lunches are on the patio, dinner are all made on the BBQ, and long weekend camping plans are finally being made.

I don’t know about you but when I start planning camping trips the first thing I worry about (after figuring out how I’m going to get away with packing a memory foam mattress in the trunk of my VW…ya, I’m THAT kind of camper) is the food.  Specifically the junk food.


The quintessential camping snack has to be S’mores.  Ooey, gooey, melty S’mores.  And by ooey, gooey I mean sticky, stringy and messy.  I hate waking up with marshmallow in my hair and no matter how careful you are it happens every time.

Enter:  The no-mess S’mores on a Stick.

I borrowed this idea from other genius blogger friends and passed it off as my own at a cookout a while back.  Super huge hit!  They are simple to make at home, easy to eat, not messy, and just as delicious as the real deal.

Ingredients:  jumbo marshmallows, smashed graham crackers, chocolate of choice.


Directions:  (you’ll need a couple of bowls, wooden skewers, and parchment or wax paper)

  1. Skewer your marshmallows like lollipops (tip: snip the very pointy end of the skewer off so you don’t injure your mouth later).
  2. Dump smashed graham crackers into a shallow bowl.  In a separate shallow bowl melt your chocolate (microwave in 30 second increments, stirring each time, until smooth).
  3. Set up your assembly line and get rolling.  Dip marshmallow in chocolate to coat, then roll in graham crackers to coat.  Place on parchment paper to set.  Repeat.



These will set at room temperature but if you are in a rush or won’t be using them for a while you can store them in the refrigerator.  Once set, they will stack fairly easily for transportation.  Wrap tightly with plastic wrap or store in an air tight container.

Pack them along in your cooler or camper fridge and served after dinner.  Delicious and no one goes home with unwanted leftovers stuck in their ponytail.
